The Negaunee Public Schools announces a change in the school calendar and the school day beginning on Monday, February 22, 2010.
In response to a projected deficit of $265,791 for 2009-10 school year and a projected deficit of up to $1.2 Million for the 2010-11 school year, the Board of Education and the Negaunee Education Association have signed a Letter of Agreement, which reduces the number of instructional days for 2009-10 school year from 180 days to 175 days. This change in the number of instructional days also means that the school day will be 30 minutes longer for students, beginning on Monday, February 22, 2010.
At the Negaunee High and Middle Schools, classes will begin 10 minutes earlier, 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. respectively, while at Lakeview Elementary School classes will begin at 8:40 a.m. The present bus pick-up schedule for the morning will be 10 minutes earlier, beginning on Monday. Afternoon dismissal times will be as follows: Middle School: 2:50 p.m., High School: 3 p.m. and Lakeview: 3:50 p.m. Afternoon bus drop off times will be 20 minutes later for the High School and Middle School students and 10 minutes later for Lakeview students.
