Children must be five years of age on or before December 1 of the year they enroll in order to begin school in Negaunee. However, the district has an early entry program for 3 and 4 years olds who qualify. A health certificate showing that a child has had an examination by a medical physician or other qualified professional is recommended for admission to kindergarten.
Immunizations against polio, measles, mumps, rubella, diptheria, whooping cough and tetanus are required by Michigan law for children entering school for the first time. Immunization may be obtained at the Marquette County Health Department (475-7844) or through a private physician.
