Middle School Tennis Club Announcement
This impacts girls tennis players in grades 7-8.
Due to MHSAA seasonal guidelines, girls in grades 7-8 are not eligible to participate in Tennis Club this spring.
Since this issue came to light recently, school staff have sought solutions that would allow for full participation, but there were no alternatives that met MHSAA protocol.
We are beginning plans for a girls’ Tennis Club for the fall that will align with MHSAA requirements.
Affected athletes were notified today at school and letters were sent home to more fully explain the issue.
Girls and boys in grade 6 will start Tennis Club tomorrow at the NHS courts. Practice is from 6-7 pm.
7-8 Grade Boys participating will begin practice tomorrow from 7-8 pm at the NHS courts.
Those athletes affected by this change are still eligible to participate in other spring sports at NMS. Students can get more information at the NMS office.
Reminder that Summer Tennis Camp will be held this June 21-24 for all interested Negaunee athletes in grades 2-12. Please refer to the NPS or Negaunee Tennis Facebook pages for more information.
